Early Accomplishments

Being raised by a mother in show business, Alicia was encouraged to learn music and dance from a young age. 

She began to play the piano from age 7 and was attending a performing art school by 12.

She began to write songs by age 14 and by 15, she got signed on to Columbia Records.

Best Known For

Her maiden song, Fallin’ in 2001 gained her immediate attention from the country, making her debut record, Songs in a Minor go 12x platinum and winning 5 Grammys in 2002. 

Other hit songs from her include No One, Girl on Fire and You Don’t Know My Name.

Her most notable contributions to film include starring in Smoking Aces in 2006 and The Secret Life of Bees in 2008 as well as providing soundtrack for 007 film, Quantum of Solace in 2008.

Alicia is straight and has been married to Swizz Beatz since 2010 after dating for 14 months. 

Before then, she had been in a 9-year relationship with Kerry Brothers a.k.a Krucial Keys. The two had known each other since 1994 but only started dating in 1998. Their relationship ended after a 7 month engagement in 2008.

Family

Her mum is Teresa Joseph and her dad is Craig Cook who had 2 other children including Cole Cook. 

Her marriage to Swizz Beatz has produced 2 children who are Egypt, born in 2010 and Genesis, born in 2014.

Alicia does not belong to a particular religion but she is very spiritual and tends to a creed of pantheism.
