Grammy-winning Swizz Beatz, regarded by his colleagues and clients as one of the best ever, is a hip hop record producer, artist, rapper and DJ. He is also an entrepreneur and art collector.

Early Accomplishments

He found hip hop early in his life. He sought equipment from his uncles and stepdad and became a somewhat successful DJ in his teenage.

He moved in with his uncles at Atlanta and began to produce beats at the age of 16 and the first beat he sold was to DMX which became Ruff Ryders’ Anthem.

Best Known For

He had produced several hit tracks for various artistes such as Upgrade U, Ring the Alarm for Beyoncé, I’m A Hustla and Hotel for Cassidy, Touch It for Busta Rhymes and I Can Transform Ya for Chris Brown.

He won his Grammy in 2011 for the song by Jay Z titled On to the Next One.

Swizz Beatz is straight and has been married to Alicia Keys since 2010 but was previously married to Mashonda Tifrere in 2004 after dating for 6 years. They separated in 2007 and finalized divorce in 2010.

Family

He was born as Kasseem Dean, the son of an Eritrean immigrant father and Jamaican/Puerto Rican mother who split while he was still young. He has a brother named Andre King and uncles Joaquin, Darrin and aunt, Chivon Dean.

He has sons Nasir (born 2000 to Nicole), Kasseem Jr. (born 2006 to Mashonda), Egypt and Genesis (born 2010 & 2014 to Alicia) and daughter Nicole (born 2008 to Jahna).
