Don Spencer

Born in Australia, Don Spencer is a musician, TV-personality, songwriter, and a singer. 

Early Accomplishments

Don decided to do music after meeting Roger Whittaker while working in Africa. 

Later he moved to England and made a name for himself as a guitarist. 

Don worked on TV-shows like Gangway! and Pop-In for some time and then moved back to Australia.  

Best Known For

Don has spent almost thirty years hosting a children TV-show Play School. He educated children about various things but did it in interesting and creative ways. 

Don also used music for education, teaching kids about the animals in Australia in albums like Stories and Songs, Let's Have Fun, Australia For Kids, and others. 

Don founded the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.

Don is married to Julie Horsfall. They have a daughter and a son, Danielle and Dean.  

Both of their children are art-inspired, since Danielle is an actress and a singer, and Dean has followed his father’s footsteps and is a musician as well.

Worth To Know

Don is the only person in the history of Play School who has hosted both the UK and Australian versions. 

He wanted to be a hockey player when he was a child. He trained professionally and even played in some competitive matches.
