Lisa Leslie

Lisa Leslie is an American professional basketball player.

Early Accomplishments

As a child, Leslie dreamed of a career as a television weather forecaster. 

She, like her mother and sisters, was tall and began to play basketball, although at first without much enthusiasm.

Lisa took the center position and played very well, scoring efficiently, picking up rebounds under the basket and giving assists. Soon basketball became her passion.

Best Known For

Lisa played for the Los Angeles Sparks team from the women's NBA for 12 seasons.

She is a two-time WNBA champion and three-time WNBA Most Valuable Player.

As part of the US national team, Leslie became an Olympic champion four times and a two-time world champion.

Leslie’s orientation is straight. She married Michael Lockwood in 2006. In, 2007, she gave birth to a daughter, Lauren Jolie Lockwood. In 2010, Lisa gave birth to a son, Michael Joseph Lockwood II.

Lisa Leslie was born in Gardena, California to semi-professional basketball player Walter Leslie and his wife Christine Leslie-Espinosa.

Her father left the family when Lisa was four years old. Christine, left with three daughters, bought a truck and became a truck driver.

Leslie's favorite player was Los Angeles Lakers forward James Worthy. Watching him play, Lisa realized that being tall wasn't enough and began working on her shot and footwork.
