Singer, actress and fashion mogul Jessica Simpson took the world by storm during the 2000s.

Early Accomplishments

She sang extensively at her church choir from an early age. She was an audition semifinalist for The Mickey Mouse Club when she was 12 along with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

She recorded a gospel album when she was 14 but remains unreleased. In 1999, she released her debut album, Sweet Kisses.

Best Known For

She has had 7 albums with In This Skin in 2003 being her most successful, going 3x platinum.

She also started in 2005 film, The Dukes of Hazzard and recorded a Billboard Top 20 song, These Boots Are Made For Walkin.

Her reality TV series, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica (2003-2005) was also a big hit.

Jessica is straight and made headlines when she practised abstinence until marriage. She got married to 98 Degrees star, Nick Lachey in 2002 but they divorced in 2005.

She dated a few other men from then such as John Mayer in 2006 and Tony Romo from 2007 to 2009.

She met Eric Johnson in 2010 and they both tied the knots in 2014.

Family

She is the older of the daughters of youth preacher, Joseph and wife Tina Simpson. She is sister to Ashlee, hence sister-in-law of Evan Ross.

She and Eric are parents of daughter Maxwell (born 2012), son Ace (born 2013) and daughter Birdie (born 2018).

Religion

Raised by a Baptist clergyman, she was very dedicated and vocal about her faith. Lately however, she admitted to have stopped attending church and “trying new things”.
