Lou Adler

Lou Adler is American award-winning entertainment entrepreneur with a portfolio of music producing and executive, film directing and producing, songwriting and talent managing. He is famous for managing many great rock & roll acts. 

Early Accomplishments

In his early years, he was a co-manager of rock duo Jan & Dean before switching to songwriting. He wrote River Rock for Froggy Landers in 1958 as well as Only Sixteen in 1959 and Wonderful World in 1960, both for Sam Cooke.

Best Known For

He established Dunhill Records in 1964 and he produced California Dreamin’ and Monday, Monday for The Mamas & The Papas. After selling the company to ABC 3 years later, he started Ode Records and signed Scott McKenzie, Spirit and Carole King.

He produced the 1978 film Up In Smoke and in 1975, the classic show The Ricky Horror Show. 

He also produced soundtracks for Witness in 1985 and Terms of Endorsement in 1983.

Sexual Orientation

Lou is straight and has been married twice. 

In 1964, he wedded Shelley Fabares and although they were separated 2 years later, they did not conclude divorce proceedings until 1980. During that time, he dated and fathered kids with Britt Ekland in 1972 for 2 years and Phyllis Somer in 1976 for 3 years. 

He got married to a much younger Page Hannah in 1992.

Family

The man has 6 sons from all of his relationships and starting from the eldest, these are Nic born in ’73, Cisco born in ’78 and Manny, Ike, Pablo and Oscar with his wife, Page.

Religion 

He was born into a Jewish family but it is unclear if he is a practising Jew.

Worth To Know

He is the owner of The Roxy Theatre.

He was kidnapped with his assistant in 1976 but the kidnappers were caught after ransom payment.
