Lisa Joy

Lisa Joy is another extension of the Nolan film family. The former law practitioner has found success as a brilliant screenwriter and filmmaker.

Early Accomplishments

After graduating from Stanford University, she got a job in LA as a consultant for McKinsey & Company. She studied law at Harvard Law School and interned at the D.A’s office in LA, working cases of domestic violence before she transitioned to writing scripts.

Best Known For

She is the co-creator of the HBO’s Westworld (2016, still airing in 2019) and has served as director, producer and writer on the series. She also served as writer for TV series Pushing Daisies (2007-2009) and Burn Notice (2009-2011).

Sexual Orientation

Lisa is straight and has been married to fellow screenwriter, Jonathan “Jonah” Nolan. The pair met during the premiere of Memento which he wrote and was produced and directed by his brother.

Family

She was born in New Jersey to a British father and a Taiwanese mother. Her marriage to Jonathan makes her a sister-in-law to famous filmmaker, Christopher Nolan. She is the mother of 2 kids with her husband; a boy and a girl.

Religion

Although her religious views cannot be established presently, she and her husband seem to evoke some religious innuendos in their TV series, Westworld. This may mean that she is religious; maybe Christianity or Buddhism.
