Jane Asher is a wonderful British actress. Known for being a child actress, she is also an author, cake enthusiast and advocate for autism.

Early Accomplishments

Making her film debut at only 5 years in the 1952 film, Crash of Silence, she has already appeared in 5 stage plays, 8 films, 9 TV series and more than 100 radio plays by the time she was 15 years old.

Best Known For

Some of her most famous film roles are in The Masque of the Red Death (1964), Alfie (1966), Deep End (1970) and Death at a Funeral (2007).

She also appeared in 2003 series, Crossroads and in 2009’s The Old Guys.

Jane is straight and is married to Gerald Scarfe since 1981 after a relationship of 10 years. She met Beatles star Paul McCartney when she was 17 years and they got engaged on 1967 Christmas Day, a year after he loved out of her parents’ house where he was for 3 years. She called off the engagement after she caught him in bed with another lady. 

She also dated a Robert Kidd before meeting her eventual husband.

Family

She is the daughter of Margaret and Richard Asher. Her big brother is Peter Asher and her baby sister is Clare Asher. She is the mother of 3; Katie (b. 1974), Alexander (b. 1981), Rory (b. 1983). She is also stepmother of Gerald’s daughter, Araminta.

Religion

Although born as a Jew, Jane is now an atheist and has lent her voice to bashing religion severally over the years, describing herself as anti-religious.
