Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly was one who lived a fairy tale life, being an actress and then Monegasque royalty. She caught the eye of many with her beauty and won the hearts of millions with regal grace.

Early Accomplishments

She started out by modelling fashion with her mother and aunts at societal glitz gatherings and headed the cast in the play Don’t Feed the Animals when she was 12.

She attended Academy of Dramatic Arts after failing to gain admission to her choice college. 

She debuted Broadway in The Father and later starred in The Philadelphia Story when she was 19.  

Best Known For

She is remembered for both her acting prowess and as Princess Grace of Monaco. 

Some of her memorable films include High Noon in 1951, Mogambo in 1953 and Rear Window, Dial M for Murder and The Country Girl all in 1954.

Her regal works was philanthropic in nature and saw her established several charities and foundations such as AMADE Mondiale.

Sexual Orientation

Grace was straight. She met the Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1955 when she headed the delegates from US to the Cannes Film Festival. At that time, she was dating French actor named Jean-Pierre Aumont. After a year of courtship, she married the Prince in 1956 in 2 ceremonies; a Napoleonic wedding then a Catholic one.

Family

Grace, her elder brother John Jr and littler sisters Elizabeth and Margaret are children of an affluent John B. Kelly Sr. and Margaret K. Majer. 

She had Walter and George Kelly who were accomplished filmmakers as uncles. 

She had 3 children who were Princesses Caroline and Stéphanie and Prince Albert II.

Religion 

She was raised in a strict Roman Catholic family and stuck by it until her death.

Worth To Know

She suffered a stroke while driving back to Monaco from her country home and drove off a winding mountainside road in 1982. 

She died the next night when her husband took her off life support. 

She was 2 months away from her 53rd birthday.
