Who is Wesley Snipes?

Wesley Snipes is one of the most famous action stars in Hollywood. Trained in martial arts, he is also a filmmaker and an author.

Early Accomplishments

He attended the school of performing arts at Fiorello LaGuardia in the Bronx and also began martial arts training right from the age of 12. 

He is now a 2nd dan Hapkido black-belter and a 5th dan Shotokan karate black-belter.

He made his acting debut at 23 in the 1986 film, Wild Cats.

Best Known For

His greatest filming days occurred in the 90s, starring in films such as New Jack City (1991), Demolition Man (1993), White Men Can’t Jump (1992) and in the trilogy of the Marvel film, Blade between 1998 and 2004.

He also starred in The Expendables 3 in 2014 and 9 episodes of the TV series, The Prayer in 2015.

Wesley is straight. He was married to April Dubois for 5 years from 1985 and dated a few women such as Halle Berry, Sanaa Lathan, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jennifer Lopez and Donna Wang since then. 

He began dating Nakyung (Nikki) Park in 2000 and have both been married since 2003.

Family

Wesley and his 3 sisters are children of Wesley Sr. and Marian Snipes. He fathers a son, Jelani with April and 4 more with Nikki. He also reveals that he has a out-of-wedlock preteen son who lives in Canada.

Religion

Although raised as a Christian, he became a Muslim in 1978 but his faith lasted only a decade. It is unclear what he practices now but seems to hold on to his belief in God.

Worth To Know

He was embroiled in a legal battle with the US government for tax fraud of over $10 million. In 2010, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

He owns a film production company called Amen-Ra Films and co-owns a security outfit called Royal Guards of Amen-Ra.
