Ray's acting career was officially launched in 1976 through the police drama series titled The Sweeney. 

Best Known For

Among his various brilliant roles on our screens, Ray has obtained the most recognition from the crime series, Vincent. Playing the Vincent character earned him an International Emmy Award in 2005. The same year, he also won a San Diego Film Critics Award for his role in The Proposition.

For a year short of 4 decades, Ray has been married to Elaine McCausland, whom he met while he was filming the movie That Summer back in the late 70's. Religious Belief

Ray featured in the movie Noah which was based on a Biblical character from the Christian faith. However, Ray stated that this role made him give his own beliefs a deep thought.

In interview to The Guardian he mentioned that he is not a follower of any religion and added that his church is family.
