James Spader

James Todd Spader is an American actor.

Early Accomplishments

James dropped out of Phillips Academy at the age of seventeen, and moved to New York City to pursue his acting career. 

While studying to become a full-time actor, Spader undertook jobs including bartending, teaching yoga, driving a meat truck, loading railroad cars, and being a stable boy.

Spader's first major film role was in the film Endless Love (1981), and his first starring role was in Tuff Turf (1985).

Best Known For

He is known for portraying eccentric characters in films such as the drama Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989) for which he won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor.

He also voiced and performed motion-capture of the titular character of Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Sexual Orientation

Spader is straight.

From 1987 to 2004, Spader was married to Victoria Keel, whom he met in a yoga class. He has three sons: Sebastian (1989) and Elijah (1992) from his marriage to Victoria, and the third son, Nathaniel, was born in 2008 by Leslie Stephenson.

Family

The actor was born in Boston and is the youngest of three children. 

His parents, Jean and Stoddard Spader, were both teachers. He has two older sisters, Libby Spader and Annie Spader.

Spader is a Christian by religion.
