James Daniel May is an English journalist and television presenter.
Early Accomplishments
As a child, James was a chorister at Whiston Parish School. An excellent flutist and pianist, he later studied music at Lancaster University, where he was a Fellow of Pendle College.
May worked as an assistant editor for The Engineer in the early 1980s and later for Autocar magazine.
Best Known For
James May is best known for co-hosting Top Gear (2003-2015) and The Grand Tour (since 2016), along with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.
In January 2020, he released James May: Our man in Japan, also shown on Amazon Prime, in which May travels across Japan, covering various cultural aspects and traditions, from forging samurai swords to building combat robots.

James May is straight. He lives in Hammersmith, West London, with art critic Sarah Frater, with whom he has been in a relationship since 2000. Despite the long relationship, the couple is not married.
