Martin Lawrence

Martin Fitzgerald Lawrence rose to prominence as a stand-up comedian and a humorist actor. He also has experience as a filmmaker, TV host and a writer.

Early Accomplishments

Lawrence started out as a very good teenage boxer and looked like a career for him until an eye injury made him choose his second passion, comedy. 

He soon landed a role on the TV show What’s Happening Now!! and after that, he became the host of Def Comedy Jam.

Best Known For

His most renowned work is his hit sitcom Martin from 1992 to 1997. 

His TV success also spread to movies such as Big Momma's House 1, 2 & 3 and Bad Boys 1 & 2. 

Other movies worth of mention are House Party in 1990, Life and Blue Streak both in 1999 and a 2016 stand-up show Martin Lawrence: Nothing To Hide.

Sexual Orientation

Martin is straight. In 1993, he was engaged to Lark Voorhies but he ended up marrying beauty queen Patricia Southall in 1995 but split 2 years later. 

In 2012, his 2-year marriage to Shamicka Gibbs ended bitterly. 

He is currently engaged to Roberta Moredfar whom he started dating in 2017.

Family

He is the 4th born child out of the 6 children of his parents.

His children are Jasmine born of Patricia in 1996, Iyanna and Amara born of Shamicka in 2000 and 2002 respectively. 

Religion

Martin is definitely Christian as he has shown by always acknowledging God for everything. It is however unclear what denomination he belongs to.
