Gene Kelly

Gene Kelly was a famous American dancer, later on - film actor.  

Early Accomplishments

His first step on the Broadway stage Gene did in late 1930’s. Leave It to Me! and One for the Money were his first notable roles. 

In 1940’s, he already got the principle role in Pal Joey – a musical comedy that was very popular at that time. 

Best Known For

All of us know legendary Tom and Jerry cartoon. In 1945, Gene appeared in Anchors Aweigh dancing with Jerry. That was unusual combination. 

In 1949, Gene Kelly starred with Frank Sinatra in On the Town. 

In 1952, Gene performed in his, probably, most famous project - Singin' in the Rain. That time he was not only a performer, but a co-director. His contribution to choreography made the film successful and memorable. 

Religious Beliefs

Gene Kelly is Irish Catholic. His father was an Irish emigrant, his grandfather – from Ireland. The family of his grandmother joined the colony of Maryland that was rather Catholic friendly. (Source: Huffpost, 11/27/2015)

Gene Kelly was straight. He was married for three time during his lifetime and had three children. 

Worth to Know

Gene was a huge fan of Bill Robinson (a famous tap dancer). He considered Bill a real dancing legend. Especially he loved his clog shoes.
