Beautiful and talented, Carey Lowell has found mainstream media success first as a model and then as an actress.

Early Accomplishments

Fresh out of high school, Carey was discovered by Ford Models and began a modeling career soon, after moving to New York City.

She famously made print ads for clients such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Johnny Walker. She studied at Neighborhood Playhouse and made her acting debut in 1986 in the film, Dangerously Close.

Best Known For

She has enjoyed so much screen time as part of the main cast on seasons 7 & 8 of Law & Order (1996-2001) as Jamie Ross, which earned her 4 consecutive SAG nominations (1997-2000).

Some of her famous film roles include Licence to Kill (1989), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and Leaving Las Vegas (1995).

Carey is straight and has had 3 husbands. Her first marriage was with John Stember for 4 years from 1984. Shortly after, she was married to Griffin Dunne for 6 years until their 1995 split. Her 2002 marriage to Richard Gere ended in 2013, but divorce proceedings stretched until 2016. 

Family

She loved her early childhood days in various countries due to her dad, James Lowell’s job as a geologist. She is the mother of 2; daughter Hannah Dunne (b. 1990) and son Homer Gere (b. 2000).

Carey is a Christian but appears to be non-religious.
