Aisling Bea

Aisling Bea is a brilliant stand-up comic, writer and actress. She is one of the few Irish persons to have made an impression on Hollywood. 

Early Accomplishments

She was fascinated by American TV and began acting in series & sitcoms as a teenager.

While trying to land roles in stage dramas, she found herself getting comic roles in TV series instead such as Dead Boss and Cardinal Burns (both 2012).

In 2012, while trying out stand-up comedy, she won the So You Think You’re Funny title.

Best Known For

She made significant appearances in sitcoms Trollied (2014-15) and The Delivery Man (2015) as well as dramas, Hard Sun and Finding Joy (both 2018).

She has had several stand-up shows on Netflix and several arenas around the UK. She is the co-host of BBC Radio comedy show, What’s Normal?

Aisling is straight and had been dating actor/producer Michael Sheen since 2018 till early 2019. 

Family

She was named Aisling O’Sullivan at birth by her parents, Brian (who committed suicide when she was 13) and Helen O’Sullivan. She has a younger sister named Sinéad.

Religion

Aisling was raised Catholic and attended a Catholic school, even having a nun as an aunt but she is not as religious anymore.

Worth To Know

Because her name was already taken at drama school, she changed her surname to Bea (B) as a tribute to her dad.

She has successfully campaigned for 2 causes in the 2015 & 2018 Irish referendum; for legal abortion and for same-sex marriages.
