Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum is an artist who is as talented at singing and songwriting as she is at acting and directing TV series.

Early Accomplishments

She was 7 when she auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera Children's Choir, singing “Happy Birthday” in 12 keys. She sang over 20 operas in even 6 languages for $5 a night.

She switched to acting during high school (which she dropped out from and earned her diploma online at 15), after debuting in the 1996 TV film, Grace & Glorie.

Best Known For

Some of Emmy’s best film appearances have come in the movies, Mystic River (2003), The Day After Tomorrow and The Phantom of the Opera (both 2004) but on TV, she has held down her role on Shameless (2011-19) with great skill and riveting performances.

She has 2 albums out; Inside Out (2007) and Sentimental Journey (2013).

Emmy is straight and has been married to Sam Esmail since 2017 after a 2-year engagement that preceded 2 years of dating. She was previously married to Justin Siegel from 2008 to 2010.

Family

Emmanuelle Grey Rossum is the daughter of photographer Cheryl Rossum and an unnamed banker father who has been divorced from Cheryl since when she was pregnant with Emmy. She is an only child.

Religion

Emmy was raised in her mother’s faith of Judaism but she has come out to categorically state that she is not much of a religious person but is quite spiritual.
