Cassandra Peterson

One of the most famous TV horror cult icon, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Cassandra Peterson is an excellent actress, TV host, writer and entrepreneur.

Early Accomplishments

Her family owned a Halloween costume shop where she worked as growing up and soon became an expert costume designer.

At 17 years, she started out in the entertainment industry as the youngest dancer in Las Vegas showgirls’ history in the Vive Les Girls where she met Elvis Presley. 

Best Known For

Known as the queen of Halloween, her Elvira alter-ego is famous for TV show, Elvira’s Movie Macabre from 1981 to 1985 and for the films Elvira: Mistress of the Dark in 1988, Elvira Haunted Hills in 2001 and a non-Elvira role in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure in 1985.

Her Elvira character is also portrayed in video games such as 2017’s Call of Duty, in several comic books and animated TV series such as TMNT from 2013 to 2017. 

Sexual Orientation

Cassandra is straight and until 2003 was married to Mark Pierson for 22 years. 

She briefly dated Elvis Presley (who gave her life-changing advices) in 1969 and also Bill Cable. 

She revealed her virginity was lost to Tom Jones (needing stitches after) and has also had brief periods with Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Burdon.

Family

Her mother’s name is unknown but her father’s name is Dale Peterson. She has a daughter from her marriage named Sadie, born in 1994.

Religion

Cassandra’s religious practices have not been revealed but she is said to have been attending church while she was growing up.

After Las Vegas, she went to Italy where she became an actress and a singer. She starred in Roma in 1982 and was a lead vocal for a rock band too.
