Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan is another name that will hang around in Hollywood folklore for long. He is a great stage and screen actor and also an environmentalist.

Early Accomplishments

After high school, he desired to paint and started learning the art when he was 16 but after watching a fire eater perform, he learnt the trick and joined a circus for the next 3 years.

He soon left the circus for acting after learning at London’s Drama Centre for 3 years and soon earned a reputation for being one of the finest stage actors in London.

Best Known For

He starred as 007 in 4 films of the James Bond franchise; GoldenEye in 1995, Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997, The World Is Not Enough in 1999 and Die Another Day in 2002. 

Other notable works include The Matador in 2005, Mamma Mia! in 2005, The Foreigner in 2017 and I.T. in 2016.

On TV, he has gained most fame for his lead role in Remington Steele from 1982-87. 

Another noteworthy mention is The Son since 2017.

Pierce is straight and has been married to Keely Shaye Smith since 2001. 

Before her, he was married to Cassandra Harris from 1980 until she died of ovarian cancer in 1991, aged 43.

Family

He is the only child of Thomas and May Brosnan. 

After his father absconded very early, he was adopted by his stepdad, William Carmichael. 

He adopted Charlotte (died 2013, aged 42) and Chris, Cassandra’s children and had Sean with her. 

He also fathers Dylan and Paris with Keely and is now a grandfather of 3.

Religion 

Pierce is a devout Catholic. He attributes his strength to deal with the loss of a wife and child to his faith in God.
