She attended a performing arts high school, graduating in 1993 and soon studied theatre arts at Ivy League school, Cornell University. 

In between her high school graduation and freshman semester at Cornell, she had her first film role in 1994’s Spanking the Monkey. She made her television debut in a 1999 episode of Law and Order.

She has had lead roles in series like Undeclared in 2001 and Carnivàle in 2003 as well as recurring ones in Californication in 2008 and Bones from 2008 to 2017.

Her most notable film appearances have come in Superbad in 2007, Neighbors in 2014 and its 2016 sequel, Room for Rent in 2017 and A Futile and Stupid Gesture in 2018.
