Tommy Hilfiger

Thomas Hilfiger is the founder of internationally famed deluxe lifestyle and fashion brands. His line of men and women clothing, sportswear, jeans and accessories has been adorned by social bigwigs.

Early Accomplishments

He had stated to exhibit fashion acumen since his teenage years when he would purchase jeans and sell after remodeling them.

When he was 18 years, he worked in a clothing store and 2 years later, used his life savings of $150 to open a shop called People’s Place where he sold incense, bellbottoms and other hippie materials.

Best Known For

He established the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation, a globally leading name in the world of fashion which as at 2009 was valued at $6 billion. 

His products hit became a raving sensation after Snoop Dogg wore his clothing on national TV in 1992.

He became the host and financier of the TV show, The Cut which is the fashion version of the popular show, The Apprentice. The winner of the show gets an opportunity to work closely with him.

Sexual Orientation

Tommy is straight and has been married to Dee Ocleppo since 2009. 

He met his ex-wife, Susan Cirona while she worked at People’s Place in 1976 and got married 4 years later. They got divorced in 2000.

Family

He is the second child of Richard and Virginia Hilfiger and he has 8 other siblings that include Ginny, Betsy, Billy and musician Andy Hilfiger. 

With his ex-wife, he fathers 4 children who are socialite Ally, musician Richard, Elizabeth and Kathleen. 

In 2009, he also became the father of Sebastian with his current wife and a stepfather to her other 2 children.

Religion 

His dad was Protestant but converted to Catholicism to marry his mom, who was practicing Catholic. In interview Tommy said that he attended church every Sunday, but religion was never something he could relate to.

Worth To Know

After a period of dwindling sales, his company’s stocks fell and had to sell it to an investment company for $1.6 billion in 2006.

He has written 9 books between 1997 and 2016, all about his experiences in the fashion industry.
