Greta Scacchi

Emmy award winner Greta Scacchi is a respected Italian-Australian actress famous for her ability to act in a handful of languages.

Early Accomplishments

While living in Australia, she enlisted in the drama guild of the local college even though she was just a 15-year old high school girl. 

She also worked as an Italian interpreter at a ranch at that time.

Back in England at 18 years, she worked as a stage actress and a model for fashion editorials and soon appeared on a TV series before making a first film appearance with Das Zweite Gesicht in 1982. 

Best Known For

Her most revered work is playing royalty in Rasputin in 1996, while also leaving lasting impressions in The Player in 1992 and Looking For Alibrandi in 2000. 

Other famous works of hers include Presumed Innocent in 1990, White Mischief in 1987 and Emma in 1996.

Sexual Orientation

Greta is straight. For 6 years, she dated singer Tim Finn back in 1983 before her 4 years romantic affair with Vincent D'Onofrio in 1989 that produced a child. 

In 1996, she met and began dating Carlo Mantegazza (who is in fact, her cousin!) and have remained a couple since then, albeit unmarried. 

Family

She is a child of Luca Scacchi Gracco and Pamela Carsaniga with her elder brothers being Tom and Paul and a littler half-sister called Sarah Georgette. 

Her children are Leila George D'Onofrio and Matteo Mantegazza.   

Religion 

Although, she was raised Catholic, she doesn’t believe in God anymore, alleging to have lost her faith at 11 years. Even though she believes all religions should be banned, her children are indoctrined in the Christian faith.

Worth To Know

For her contribution to art, she was knighted into the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2013.

Greta is fluent in English, French, Italian and German which she had to learn for a movie role.
