Early Accomplishments
He became a Sea Cadet Corps member by 12 and played the bugle, but soon got bored of its difficulty and switched interest to drums.
He was able to afford his first drum set with proceeds from his job as a radio repair guy in 1961 and soon joined The Escorts.
He joined The Beachcombers in 1962 and 2 years later became a part of The Who at 17 years.
Best Known For
He was prolific with the drums so much that it became a lead instrument. An example of this is in Won’t Get Fooled Again in 1971.
Outside the band, he was famous for destroying hotel rooms and dropping explosives in toilets.
He drove a car into a pool on his 21st birthday and even lost a tooth.
