Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington is an American actor, producer and director. 

Early Accomplishments

Denzel got his first acting exposure in 1977 through the television film The Wilma Rudolph Story. 2 years later, he branched into the theatre with his first performance at the Joseph Papp Public Theatre.  

Best Known For

Presently, Denzel is mostly recognized for his role in the award-winning movie Fences which was released in 2016. His role in this movie has earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Black Reel Award, 4 Film Critic Awards as well as a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Award.

Denzel has been married to Pauletta Pearson Washington for 34 years and counting and they have 4 children together, one of which walked in his father's footsteps and became an actor- John David Washington. 

Religious Belief

Denzel is Christian. Growing up, his father was a Pentecostal preacher and remained one for 50 years. The firm faith-based foundation his family instilled in him as a child has helped him to remain very devout even until this point in life. Denzel states that he not only believes in God and Jesus Christ but he is also filled with the Holy Spirit and he very much remembers the experience as it is very real to him. Denzel wanted to walk in his father's path and become a preacher but instead, he decided to use every role he plays to pass a good message.
