Vanessa Redgrave

Vanessa Redgrave is a great theatre and screen actress known both in England and abroad. 

Early Accomplishments

In 1957, the actress debuted in a performance A Touch of the Sun.

The following year, the actress debuted on the screen staring with her father Michael Redgrave in the film Behind the Mask. Nevertheless, theatrical work was her priority during 60’s. 

Best Known For

A Man for All Seasons was for sure her iconic film. She appeared on the screen in 1966 as Anne Boleyn (King Henry VIII wife). 

The following year, she again played an English royal Guenevere in Camelot. 

These roles were important and notable without doubt, however, the role in Julia, in 1977, was the one that brought Vanessa her legendary Oscar. 

In addition to her acting fame, Vanessa Redgrave had an active political position and was known for her pro-Palestinian views. She did support The Workers Revolutionary Party.

Religious Beliefs

Though it’s VERY strange for a Marxist, Vanessa is religious. The actress doesn’t consider Marxism and religion as an opposition, so one doesn’t contradict the other in her opinion. She sometimes goes to a Catholic church and likes religious discussions. (Source: Theguardian.com, 06/13/2016)

Sexual Orientation 

Vanessa is straight what can’t be said about her first husband Tony Richardson. Tony left Vanessa because of the affair with Jeanne Moreau, and because of AIDS he died in 1991. She married Franco Nero in 2006. 

Worth to Know
