He began acting in films in 1985. As a teenager, Ethan made his debut role as Ben Crandall in the comedy Explorers.

In his youth, the actor got one of the roles in the cult film Society of Dead Poets. It was the picture that helped Ethan Hawke begin his long road to the heights of world cinema.

In 2001, Ethan made his first Oscar nomination. Such an impressive success was brought to the actor by shooting in the film Training Day.

Family

Ethan's father is James Hawke, an insurance mathematician, and his mother is Leslie Hawke. The woman was a charity worker. After his birth, his parents divorced. 

His mother remarried when he was 10, and the family moved to Township, New Jersey.

Ethan has two children with Thurman: Maya and Levon. He also has two daughters with Shawhughes: Clementine and Indiana.
