Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique is a Spanish soccer player who holds the position of Barcelona defender and appears to be the best defender in the world.

Early Accomplishments

He began his soccer career at his youth as a member of FC Barcelona. Pique decided to get into the professional sports with Manchester United though could not sign a professional contract due to his early age.  

He was a part of the Spanish youth team winning 2006 UEFA European Under-19 Championship and took part in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Best Known For

A successful footballer made his professional debut with Manchester United in 2004 playing his full season in 2005.

In 2008 Gerard joined Barcelona on behalf of reunion contributing to the club’s victories throughout all the subsequent years. Ten years later he announced his retirement, however, he is still a Barcelona's member.

Sexual Orientation

Pique is straight. He has been dating a famous Colombian singer Shakira since 2011. The couple met during the production of 2010 FIFA World Cup official song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).

Family

Gerard is the child of a businessman Joan and a hospital director Montserrat, both Catalonians. Gerard’s parents have another son Marc. Pique’s grandfather used to be Barcelona’s vice-president.

Gerard has two sons with Shakira, Milan Pique Mebarak (b. 2013) and Sasha Pique Mebarak (b.2015).

Religion

Pique is implied to be Catholic in the media, however, has not made any personal claims about his religious views.

In 2020 Gerard along with other footballers made a commitment to donate a part of his salary to the battle against COVID-19.
