Catherine Popper is a terrific bass guitar player and a singer-songwriter, who is also a member of the girl band Puss n Boots.

Early Accomplishments

As early as age 9, Catherine had began to strum the upright bass. She received her high school education and learned the classical string bass from the North Carolina School of the Arts before heading to Manhattan School of Music for college and to study jazz bass.

She joined Hem in 2000 and released an album in 2001, the first of 3.

Best Known For

Before joining Sasha Dobson and Norah Jones to form Puss n Boots, she was with Ryan Adams and The Cardinals from 2004 to 2006, playing the double bass and singing backup.

She has joined several acts since then but most notably, Jack White’s The Peacocks in 2012 as well as Grace Potter and the Nocturnals from 2009 to 2011 and again in 2016.
