Jack Palance

Vladimir Ivanovich Palahniuk better known as Jack Palance is an American actor, boxer and writer.

Early Accomplishments

In fight as “Jack Brazzo” and won 12 competitions with knockouts.

Started a good career in the series “Hands of Murder” in 1949 and later got the small role in one episode of “Lights Out”. A good start for the next 125 roles.

Best Known For

He was a heavyweight boxer in the 1940s but decided to change the professional sphere of working and turned to acting. “…You must be nuts to get your head beat in for $200.” – The star shared with Los Angeles Post. – “The theater seemed a lot more appealing”

To get into Hollywood he needed to work in the theater. Jack Palance was hard-working and diligent. One of his best quotes is “The only two things you can truly depend upon are gravity and greed.” Sounds very motivating.

His role in “City Slickers” was Academy Awards and Golden Globes winning. He received Oscar in 1992.

He is well recognizable as a feared crime lord in “Batman”.

 “Sudden Fear” and “Shane” are among his best works.

The actor is straight.  After 20 years of marriage with Virginia Baker (1948 – 1968), he decided to split up. They welcomed three kids: Holly, Brooke and Cody. Two of three became actors.

In 1986, he tied the knot with Elaine Rogers and the couple were together until his death in 2006.

He received a Purple Heart after the WWII.

He is of Ukrainian descents. People often mixed it up with Russian. Palance corrected this mistake and repeated: “I’m not Russian, I’m Ukrainian”.
