Caroline, Princess of Hanover

The glitzy and enigmatic Princess Caroline of Hanover (formerly of Monaco) is a royal figure, a philanthropist, socialite, adventurer and a matriarch.

Early Accomplishments

She spent her early days learning how to ski, swim and horseback riding and has turned out superb in these activities.

She was awarded her French baccalauréat when she was 17 and went on to receive a diploma in philosophy, minoring in biology and psychology from Sorbonne University.

Best Known For

She was in effect, the first lady of Monaco in the wake of her mother’s death from 1982 to 2011 when Albert II, Prince of Monaco got married.

As a style trendsetter, an exhibition at Monaco National Museum was held in honor of the princess in 2011.

Princess Caroline is straight and has a long history with affluent men. 

Her first marriage in 1978 to banker Phillipe Junot lasted only 2 years. 

She fell in love with socialite Stefano Casiraghi and got wedded in 1983. After a boating incident cost his life in 1990, she found love again in the arms of Prince Ernst August of Hanover and in 1999, they got married.

Family

Born Caroline Louise Grimaldi, she is the first child of Grace Kelly and Rainier III, Prince of Monaco with Prince Albert II and Princess Stéphanie as younger siblings. 

She is the mother of Andrea, Charlotte and Pierre Casiraghi and Princess Alexandra of Hanover.

Religion 

Caroline is a faithful Roman Catholic. She had to receive canonical declaration of nullity for her first marriage so that her last child was legitimised royalty.

She was named Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF in 2003.
