Her musical career was officially launched in 1992 as she released the studio album, What's the 411?. This album became a huge success as it was ranked among the top 10 all across the US.

Best Known For

Mary has attained much recognition through the release of her 2005 single Be Without You. This song eventually won her 2 Grammy Awards by 2007.

In the 2017 period drama movie Mudbound, Mary plays the Florence Jackson character. This role won her 2 Hollywood Film Awards.

Mary is straight. In the 90's, Mary was in a relationship with the singer, K-Ci Hailey. Their relationship got to the point of an engagement but it ended before they could get married.
