Early Accomplishments

Coming from a poor background, she worked several odd jobs until her then-boyfriend set up a modeling agency for her in 1986. At the age of 22, she set up a London refugee center for over 20 escapees of the Croatian war in 1990.

Best Known For

Losing her left leg, after being erroneously knocked down by a police motorbike in London, became the focal point of her fame as she became an activist for amputees, wrote books, granted interviews, set up charities and many more.
